The Jackie Robinson Story

⁣The Jackie Robinson Story (1950) is a biographical sports drama starring legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson as himself.
The film follows Robinson's journey from his early years as a talented athlete through his historic rise to Major League Baseball. After serving in the U.S. Army, Robinson is given the opportunity of a lifetime when Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey chooses him to break professional baseball's long-standing color barrier.
Facing racism, hostility, threats, and tremendous pressure both on and off the field, Robinson must demonstrate extraordinary determination and self-control while proving that he belongs in the major leagues. With the support of his wife, Rachel, and those who believe in him, he becomes one of baseball's greatest pioneers and helps change the game forever.
Released only a few years after Robinson's historic 1947 debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers, The Jackie Robinson Story is especially notable because Robinson portrays himself, giving the film a unique connection to one of the most important chapters in American sports history.
